It's the thing I hear most from players and parents. The swing looks good in the cage, then the games don't match. Usually the swing isn't the problem. In the cage you know what's coming. In a game you have to decide, and most hitters have never been coached on how to make that decision.
Most instructors never see a player's at-bats. They coach the swing they see on a Tuesday and hope it travels. Performance coaching is built around the games instead. We talk before you play, we talk after, and every week the plan gets sharper.
What we work on
Your approach at the plate
What you're hunting in each count, and what changes with two strikes. Average mechanics with a great approach will out-produce great mechanics with no plan.
Preparation
A routine you can run before every game and every at-bat, so you show up the same way whether you're facing the ace or a reliever.
Handling failure
Hitting means failing most of the time. We work on what you do after an 0-for-4 so one bad game doesn't turn into a bad month.
How you measure yourself
Hits and exit velocity aren't the whole story. We look at quality at-bats and good decisions, which you control, so you can see progress before the box score does.
The long-term goal is simple. You become your own hitting coach.
How it works
- Sign up online. $200 a month, six months minimum. If it isn't for you, cancel within the first 30 days. After six months it runs month to month and you can cancel any time.
- Matt texts you to set up your first call at a time that works for you, wherever you are.
- Your first call sets the plan. What's getting in your way in games and where we start.
- Four calls a month, one a week, through your season. Between calls you can text Matt before and after games and send him game video so he sees what happened before you talk.
Remote, by phone and text. For competitive high school and college hitters, 12 and up, anywhere English is spoken.
Players under 18 sign up through a parent, and parents are always welcome on the call.

Hitters who already train and compete: travel and select players, high school varsity and JV, and college players. If you're putting in the work and not seeing it in games, this is for you.
It isn't a beginner program, and it isn't a promise of stats or a scholarship. It's a plan, and someone in your corner who pays attention to how you compete.

Do I need to live in Arizona?
No. Coaching is done by phone, so you can be anywhere. Calls are scheduled in Arizona time, which doesn't change for daylight saving.
Do I need to send video?
Yes, when you have it. Text Matt your game video between calls so he can see what's going on before you talk. Swing video works the same way: send it by text or email and the breakdown and drills come back to you.
What if I also want swing work?
Video breakdowns of your swing are part of the program. In the Phoenix area you can also book in-person lessons, and many players do both.
Can a parent join the calls?
Yes. For players under 18 we'd encourage it.
